Abstract
EPG was envisioned as a vital service in digital TV. However the EPG in its current form has not been a success. People continue zapping to select and change programs. The prototype developed during this master thesis uses web-services and recommender techniques to increase the personal benefit of watching television. The main focus is on a personalized interactive electronic program guide with an appealing user interface. To achieve this, state-of-the-art for recommender and profiling systems are studied and user-centric design principles are used to formulate the requirements.
