Abstract
The report discusses urban problems in Sub-Saharan Africa with a particular focus on participation in urban environmental management based on a case study of Sustainable Urban Development project in Maputo, Mozambique. In this context, the focus is on urban slum areas and the research question seeks to answer how participatory approaches can contribute to improving the environmental quality and the living conditions of the marginalized communities.
