Specialet undersøger grupperelateret kriminalitet blandt unge drenge med etnisk minoritetsbaggrund og deres møder med socialarbejdere på baggrund af bandekonflikter i København og forstæderne i perioden 2008–2011. Med udgangspunkt i en socialkonstruktivistisk forståelse kombineres narrativ teori om identitet med kritisk diskursanalyse for at belyse, hvordan fortællinger og diskurser om familie, ungdom, samarbejde og forandring former de unges selvforståelser og deres samspil med myndigheder og gadeindsatser. Empirien omfatter narrative interview med fire unge mænd samt fokusgruppeinterview og semistrukturerede interview med sagsbehandlere og gademedarbejdere; materialet analyseres både narrativt og diskursivt i spændet mellem tekst, diskursiv praksis og social praksis. Baggrunden er socialfaglig rådvildhed og betydelige samfundsressourcer knyttet til målgruppen. Specialet tilstræber at nuancere de perspektiver og praksisser, der præger arbejdet med denne gruppe unge; konkrete resultater og konklusioner præsenteres senere i afhandlingen og fremgår ikke af dette uddrag.
This thesis examines group-related crime among young ethnic minority boys and their encounters with social workers against the backdrop of gang conflicts in Copenhagen and its suburbs from 2008 to 2011. Grounded in social constructivism, it combines narrative theory of identity with critical discourse analysis to explore how stories and discourses about family, youth, cooperation, and change shape the young men’s self-understandings and their interactions with authorities and street-level services. The empirical material comprises narrative interviews with four young men, focus group interviews, and semi-structured interviews with caseworkers and street workers; the data are analyzed both narratively and discursively across text, discursive practice, and social practice. Motivated by uncertainty in social work practice and the substantial societal resources directed at this target group, the study aims to provide a nuanced picture of the perspectives and practices that frame work with these youths; specific findings and conclusions are presented later in the thesis and are not included in this excerpt.
