Abstract

Kunstig intelligens (AI) er ikke længere et modeord, men en central del af mange virksomheders drift. I vindenergisektoren bruges AI især i drift og vedligeholdelse (D&V), hvor systemerne muliggør forudsigende vedligeholdelse og hurtigere fejlfindings- og diagnoseprocesser. Samtidig rejser teknologien spørgsmål om ansvar for beslutninger truffet af AI-systemer og om etisk anvendelse. Implementeringen af AI ændrer dermed, hvordan virksomheder prioriterer og planlægger fremtiden. Der findes kun få samlede undersøgelser af denne forandring i vindenergi. Afhandlingen undersøger derfor: Hvordan påvirker implementering af AI til D&V organisatoriske forandringer i vindenergisektoren? For at besvare dette blev der gennemført otte semistrukturerede interviews med eksperter. To interviewguides blev brugt til at belyse henholdsvis teknologiske og organisatoriske effekter. Deltagerne omfattede AI-specialister, vindmølleteknikere, projektledere og akademiske eksperter med omfattende erfaring med AI i vindenergi. Technology–Organization–Environment (TOE)-rammen blev anvendt til at vurdere påvirkninger på tværs af teknologiske, organisatoriske og miljømæssige perspektiver. Interviewene peger på øget opkvalificering og omskoling, styrkelse af cybersikkerhed og større investeringer i forskning og udvikling (F&U). Der er også voksende opmærksomhed på konsekvenser for beskæftigelse, på de emissioner og det energiforbrug der følger med AI-systemer, samt på behovet for passende politiske tiltag og offentlig opbakning for at sikre helhedsorienteret og vedvarende vækst i branchen. Indsigterne er sammenholdt med en litteraturgennemgang for at besvare forskningsspørgsmålet og støtte videre undersøgelser af AI-drevne organisatoriske forandringer i vindenergisektoren.

Artificial intelligence (AI) is now a core part of many businesses. In the wind energy sector, AI is used in operations and maintenance (O&M) to enable predictive maintenance and faster fault detection and diagnosis. At the same time, it raises questions about accountability for AI-driven decisions and the ethical use of the technology. Adopting AI therefore changes how companies set priorities and plan for the future. Few comprehensive studies have examined this shift in wind energy. This thesis asks: How does adopting AI for O&M influence organizational change in the wind energy sector? To explore this, eight semi-structured interviews were conducted with experts. Two interview guides were used to study technological and organizational effects. Participants included AI specialists, wind turbine technicians, project managers, and academic experts with extensive experience using AI in wind energy. The Technology–Organization–Environment (TOE) framework was applied to assess impacts across technological, organizational, and environmental dimensions. The interviews indicate increased upskilling and reskilling, stronger cybersecurity, and greater investment in research and development (R&D). Experts also highlighted concerns about effects on employment, the emissions and energy use associated with AI systems, and the need for appropriate policy measures and public support to enable holistic and sustained industry growth. These insights were integrated with a literature review to address the research question and to inform further study of AI-driven organizational change in the wind energy sector.
