Abstract
Specialet foreslår et nyt hospice i Nørresundby. Det undersøger, hvordan helende arkitektur—design der understøtter trivsel og velbefindende—og bæredygtighed i en nordisk sammenhæng kan forenes i et holistisk byggeri. Fordi et hospice både er en arbejdsplads og et hjem for patienterne, tager projektet udgangspunkt i balancen og spændingen mellem disse roller. Målet er at vise, hvordan kvalitative indsigter og kvantitative data kan samles i én designproces, så resultatet afspejler både teknisk ydeevne og æstetisk kvalitet. Bygningen er organiseret omkring en kvadratisk gård. To fløje er i én etage og to i to etager. En gang løber rundt om gårdrummet på begge niveauer for at skabe et let flow gennem huset og invitere til uformelle møder mellem funktioner. De mest private områder er placeret længst fra indgangen og på første sal. Det gælder bl.a. patientstuerne, hvor der er særligt fokus på dagslys, solindfald og indeklima.
This thesis proposes a new hospice in Nørresundby, Denmark. It explores how healing architecture—design that supports comfort and wellbeing—and sustainability in a Nordic setting can be combined in a holistic building. Because a hospice is both a workplace and a home for patients, the project starts from the balance and tension between these roles. The goal is to show how qualitative insights and quantitative data can be integrated into one design process, resulting in a scheme that reflects both technical performance and aesthetic quality. The building is organized around a square courtyard. Two wings have one storey and two have two storeys. A corridor runs around the courtyard on both levels to create an easy flow through the building and to invite informal encounters between functions. The most private areas are placed farthest from the entrance and on the first floor. These include the patient rooms, where particular attention is given to daylight, sun exposure, and indoor environmental quality.
