Abstract
Dette speciale præsenterer Stavanger East multiidrætscenter (MSC), som placeres i et af Stavangers mest udfordrende byudviklingsområder. Urban Sjøfront fastlægger strategier og er en aktiv drivkraft og koordinator for udviklingen. For at genoplive bylivet fokuserer de på at skabe aktivitets- og mødesteder, fremme innovation, sikre lokal forankring og give området et tydeligt særpræg. Stavanger vil være en idrætsby med målet om at få flere borgere til at være fysisk aktive. MSC’s beliggenhed—på grænsen mellem bymidten og naturområder—giver en stærk mulighed for at engagere hele byen. Den overordnede strategi viser, hvordan projektet kan forme et aktivt bybillede både lokalt og regionalt. Det nye MSC vil tilbyde levende byrum, der opmuntrer til sport, bevægelse og kulturelle aktiviteter, og bygger på sportens kerneværdier som drivkraft for social, kulturel og uddannelsesmæssig udvikling. This thesis presents the Stavanger East multipurpose sports centre (MSC), planned in one of the city’s most challenging development areas. Urban Sjøfront sets strategies and actively promotes and coordinates the area’s urban development. To revive city life, they focus on creating places for activity and meeting, fostering innovation, rooting projects in the local context, and giving the area a distinct character. Stavanger aims to be a city of sport, with the goal of getting more residents physically active. The MSC’s location—on the boundary between the city centre and nature—offers a strong opportunity to involve the whole city. The overall strategy shows how the project can shape an active city image locally and regionally. The new MSC will provide lively urban spaces that encourage sport, movement, and cultural activities, reflecting the core values of sport as a driver of social, cultural, and educational progress. Its design is inspired by the familiar forms of traditional boathouses: the building’s structure guides its architectural expression and integrates closely with the floor plan. As part of Stavanger’s sea-facing frontage, the MSC connects history and identity with tradition and innovation.
