Abstract
This thesis investigates how to design a multiplayer interactive narrative system and outlines an experimental path toward a design framework. Motivated by the scarcity of established collaborative interactive story games, we identify three key features tied to players’ behavioral, cognitive, and emotional responses: decision making, narrative intelligibility, and suspension of disbelief. We built a new multiplayer system and authored three narratives, which were tested with six groups (N=15) of two and three players. The study examined how social play shapes choices and attitudes. Results suggest that the social component encourages more moderate or conservative strategic behavior. We discuss implications for system and narrative design and propose future steps to foster a more playful and positive player attitude in multiplayer interactive narratives.
Denne afhandling undersøger, hvordan man kan designe et multiplayer interaktivt narrativt system og skitserer en eksperimentel vej mod en designramme.
