Abstract

This project explores how a modular fixed-wing drone platform can help the Danish Jaeger Corps assemble drones faster, integrate different equipment, rebuild configurations, and support local manufacturing. Today, the corps depends on drones that require extensive manual integration and are often bought from external suppliers. This limits how many drones can be used and how easily they can be adapted to new missions. The project used an iterative, user-centered design process in close collaboration with the Jaeger Corps. Through interviews, prototype evaluations, tests, and continuous user feedback, the project identified key challenges: keeping the drone balanced, integrating different payloads, enabling local manufacturability of parts, and adapting the drone to a variety of mission types. The result is the concept MORPHEUS, a modular drone platform built around a standardized fuselage with interchangeable wings, tails, lids, payload protection systems, and an internal rail-and-plate mounting system. This allows rapid reconfiguration of internal components without redesigning the airframe itself. The project provides a foundation for further development and demonstrates how modular drone architectures can enable more scalable and adaptable military drone deployment.
