Abstract

Where and how antennas are installed affects their performance, because the surroundings and the mounting structure can change how signals propagate. As a first step, we use computer simulations to quantify how these factors alter the antenna’s radiation pattern (the direction and strength of its emitted signal) and, in turn, how this influences network performance metrics. Finally, we compare the simulation results with measurements from a real-world deployment in the urban area of Aalborg.
