Denne afhandling undersøger, om mikrofonarrays kan gøres tilgængelige for hjemmebrugere gennem en brugervenlig, open source VST-plugin til beamforming. Med udgangspunkt i en vision om at demokratisere rumlig lyd via software gennemgås de centrale principper for bølgeudbredelse, aperturer, retningskarakteristik og diskrete sensorarrays som teoretisk fundament. En status over eksisterende hardware og software danner baggrund for designmål, kompatibilitet og brugeroplevelse i en JUCE-baseret plugin.
