Abstract

During the design phase of an Ambilight television, Phillips promoted the product as able to “catch” a film’s mood and extend it by adjusting the room’s ambient light. This thesis investigates how much the atmospheric information in Ambilight leads to a stronger emotional response that aligns with the film’s content. We ran an experiment measuring emotional reactions and distraction in two groups (with and without Ambilight) as they watched three different film clips.
