Abstract
During the design phase of the Ambilight television, Phillips presented their product as being able to “catch” the mood in a film and extend it by manipulating the ambient light in the room. In response this thesis sets out to answer the question: To what degree does the atmospheric information in ambilight manifest in an enhanced emotional response related to the content of the viewed film? An experiment was executed measuring emotional responses and distraction in two groups (with and without ambilight) across three different film clips.
