Abstract
This thesis details how to approach presence from a perspective of audio and haptic feedback in combination. In a collaboration with a larger project; the NIW (Natural Interactive Walking) project, the thesis sets out to explore how to approach the relatively untouched area of audiohaptic multimodal perception. The thesis seeks a method to approach the relatively uninvestigated area through empirical testing of walking n a synthesized surface that elicits either auditory feedback, haptic feedback or both. It also explores hove cognition can be used to regard and decipher these processes in order to be able to design a final test. The final test relates to the measurement of presence, given from conditions only made from auditory and haptic feedback, also including a contextual environment through a soundscape to see how the cognitive processes might play a part in the recognition and sense of audiohaptic presence.
