Abstract
This thesis examines marine litter (waste in the ocean, such as plastic and other debris) in Greenland, focusing on areas in and around Nuuk. The presence of marine litter was assessed by collecting and analyzing items from the seafloor, the sea surface, and the coastline. In addition, information from literature, interviews, and questionnaires was used to understand where marine litter occurs and how waste is generally managed in Greenland. Building on these insights, the second part of the thesis discusses initiatives that could be implemented to prevent future discharges and reduce the impacts of marine litter in Greenland.
