Abstract
This thesis investigates how light can be used as a means of expression to create and underline atmosphere in Nordic style Larp, with the aim of enhancing player immersion. Starting from the observation that atmosphere is essential for immersion yet lighting is often overlooked compared to scenography and sound, the project first defines key concepts such as Nordic Larp and immersion, then examines lighting practices in theatre and film and translates these insights to a live action role-play context. Based on this, it develops a set of design parameters, conducts a case study, and produces a concrete lighting design. The thesis concludes that carefully planned and properly implemented lighting can establish, maintain, and signal shifts in atmosphere, thereby enabling more immersive Larp experiences.
