Abstract
Dette speciale undersøger, hvordan arkitektur kan samle form, struktur, funktion og kontekst til en helhed med udgangspunkt i tektoniske ideer. Projektet bygger på en konkret konkurrence om at renovere og udvide et forladt badehus i Liepaja, Letland. Projektet undersøger badehusets rolle i byen for at fastlægge klare retningslinjer for den arkitektoniske indsats. Hovedmålet er at respektere og forstærke den oprindelige bygnings essens, samtidig med at der tilføjes en ny udvidelse. Med afsæt i tektonik (en tilgang der fokuserer på, hvordan konstruktion og detaljer udtrykker mening) lægges der særlig vægt på udformningen af bygningsdetaljer. I tråd med Frascaris syn på tektonik tilstræber forslaget en klar, sammenhængende fortælling i mødet mellem den eksisterende bygning og den nye tilføjelse.
This thesis explores how architecture can bring form, structure, function, and context into a cohesive whole, using tectonic ideas. It is grounded in an existing competition to renovate and extend an abandoned bath house in Liepaja, Latvia. The project examines the bath house's role in the city to set clear guidelines for the architectural intervention. The main goal is to respect and enhance the essence of the original building while introducing a new extension. Guided by tectonics—an approach that focuses on how construction and details express meaning—the work pays close attention to the design of building details. Following Frascari's view of tectonics, the proposal aims for a clear, coherent story in the encounter between the existing structure and the new addition.
