This thesis examines how a cattle farm in Råby can be transformed in a socially and environmentally sustainable way. It follows an integrated design process that combines architectural and engineering methods and analyses from the outset. The work also reflects on the cultural and historical role of farming and how it has shaped the rural landscape. A life cycle assessment (LCA), a method that evaluates environmental impacts across a building’s entire life, is used to inform key choices. A key focus is 'housing rotation': enabling residents to move between different homes in the village as their needs change. Two scenarios of resident movement in a village like Råby illustrate the potential to reduce the climate footprint by implementing this concept. Site analyses, design work, and literature studies support the findings. The thesis culminates in a design proposal for transforming the farm into Fællesskabet Landbo, where housing rotation is integrated. Fællesskabet Landbo is a community-based housing association that offers dwellings and new functions for Råby.

Specialet undersøger, hvordan en kvæggård i Råby kan omdannes på en socialt og miljømæssigt bæredygtig måde. Arbejdet bygger på en integreret designproces, hvor arkitektur- og ingeniørfaglige metoder og analyser kobles tæt fra start. Specialet reflekterer også over landbrugets kulturelle og historiske betydning, og hvordan det har formet det rurale landskab. Som del af arbejdet anvendes livscyklusvurdering (LCA), et værktøj der vurderer miljøpåvirkninger gennem hele et byggeris levetid, til at belyse valg og konsekvenser. En central del er undersøgelsen af 'boligrotation': at beboere kan flytte mellem forskellige boliger i landsbyen, efterhånden som deres behov ændrer sig. To scenarier for beboernes flyttemønstre i en landsby som Råby illustrerer potentialet for at reducere klimaaftrykket gennem dette koncept. Stedsanalyser, designarbejde og litteraturstudier danner grundlaget for konklusionerne. Specialet munder ud i et designforslag til omdannelsen af gården, Fællesskabet Landbo, hvor boligrotation er integreret. Fællesskabet Landbo er en fællesskabsbaseret boligforening, der tilbyder boliger og nye funktioner i Råby.
