Abstract

Dette projekt præsenterer KeeCo, et system af smarte køkkenredskaber, der samarbejder med en app for at hjælpe personer med kognitive udfordringer med at lave mad derhjemme. Kognitive udfordringer kan gøre hverdagens aktiviteter svære, fx fordi hukommelse, overblik over rækkefølger, tidsfornemmelse, logisk tænkning eller mental energi er nedsat. I projektet fokuserer vi på netop disse fem områder. Udgangspunktet var at udvikle en socially assistive robot (SAR) til et rehabiliteringscenter for unge med frontallappeskader. Den indledende research viste dog et større behov for et hjælperedskab i overgangen fra rehabiliteringscenter til hjemmet. Teamet forsøgte først at arbejde med personlig pleje, men da vi ikke kunne rekruttere testpersoner, blev fokus flyttet til madlavning. Vi har derfor udviklet KeeCo som et koncept med 11 forbundne køkkenredskaber, der kommunikerer med en app. Systemet guider og støtter brugeren gennem madlavningsprocessen. For at illustrere løsningen viser vi, hvordan KeeCo hjælper med to konkrete opskrifter: pandekager samt stegt flæsk med persillesovs.

This project presents KeeCo, a system of smart kitchen objects that work with an app to help people with cognitive challenges cook at home. Such challenges can make everyday tasks difficult, for example when memory, sense of sequence, sense of time, logical reasoning, or mental energy are reduced. The project focuses on these five areas. The initial idea was to build a socially assistive robot (SAR) for a rehabilitation center for young people with frontal lobe injuries. Early research, however, showed a greater need for an assistive tool that supports the transition from the center back to home. The team first explored personal care, but shifted to cooking because we could not recruit test participants. We therefore developed KeeCo as a concept consisting of 11 connected kitchen tools that communicate with an app. The system guides and supports the user through the cooking process. To demonstrate the solution, we show how KeeCo assists with two recipes: pancakes and fried pork with parsley sauce.
