Abstract

This project is an investigation of the design challenges related to the meeting between the motorway and the city. The planned motorway through Silkeborg is the project´s Urban Test Field where the form typologies of the motorway as Crossing, Junction and Pocket are challenged as urban structures that transform city districts and generate new developments. The design consists of a set of concepts which all programmatically or physically link the layer of the motorway to the layer of the city and create a gateway to the city. The project represents the status of the lab December 2007.
