Abstract
This thesis investigates whether service design can be used to support knowledge transfer in new product development through a case study at B&R Automation in Odense (January–May 2018). B&R faces information loss and miscommunication across product development phases and disciplines—especially between mechanical and software engineers—partly because knowledge is captured on whiteboards and in personal notes. Building on the company’s request for a visual tool and its vision to capture meeting outputs and continuously generate updated software architecture, the study maps existing workflows and phase handovers. Using service design methods including user journeys, workshops, and interviews, it develops a prototype concept accompanied by implementation guidelines to promote more consistent knowledge sharing across phases.
