Abstract
Rapporten vil øge forståelsen af, hvordan nye teknologiske løsninger formes af vores sensescapes (de sanselige oplevelser og hverdagsmiljøer, der præger, hvordan vi opfatter teknologi) på tværs af kulturelle og nationale grænser. Vi undersøger, hvordan teledildonics (internetforbundne, fjernstyrede seksuelle produkter) opfattes og bruges af forskellige involverede grupper i dag. Målet er at identificere aktuelle udfordringer ved brugen af teledildonics i langdistanceforhold og diskutere, hvordan disse udfordringer håndteres på måder, der kan udvikle den sociotekniske forestilling (fælles billeder af, hvordan teknologi indgår i samfundet) om teledildonics. Analysen bygger på empiriske data indsamlet gennem antropologisk feltarbejde, og vi gennemgår vores metode og dataindsamling for at gøre området tilgængeligt. Med fokus på brugere af We-Vibe teledildonics belyser vi centrale udfordringer og bekymringer og overvejer, hvordan de kan påvirke fremtiden. Vi konkluderer, at deltagerne ser teledildonics som almindeligt sexlegetøj og er bekymrede for, om teknologien vil supplere eller erstatte fysisk sex.
This report aims to deepen understanding of how new technological solutions are shaped by our sensescapes (the sensory experiences and everyday environments that influence how we perceive technology) across cultural and national contexts. We examine how the technology of teledildonics (internet-connected, remote-controlled sexual devices) is perceived and used by different groups involved today. Our goal is to identify current issues in using teledildonics in long-distance relationships and to discuss how these issues are addressed in ways that could change the sociotechnical imaginary (shared visions of how society and technology fit together) around teledildonics. We base our analysis on empirical data from anthropological fieldwork and describe our methodology and data collection to make the topic accessible. Focusing on users of We-Vibe teledildonics, we highlight key challenges and concerns and consider how they may shape the future. We find that participants view teledildonics as ordinary sex toys and are concerned about whether these technologies will supplement or replace physical sex.
