Abstract

This thesis examines how internal intercultural communication influences employee engagement in a Danish company with a multinational workforce, using Eurowind Energy A/S as a case. Guided by research questions on which aspects of internal communication affect engagement and how employees perceive intercultural communication at work, the study draws on literature about employee engagement (e.g., Kahn), internal communication (e.g., Welch and Ruck), and intercultural communication competencies. A qualitative approach is employed, using interviews with Danish and international employees at the headquarters in Denmark and a template analysis of the transcribed data. Findings indicate that employee engagement, internal communication, and intercultural communication are closely interrelated and especially important in workforces comprising different nationalities. At Eurowind Energy, internal intercultural communication contains elements that both promote and lower engagement; attitude and support are significant, and a language policy is necessary in companies with multinational workforces.

Kahn), intern kommunikation (bl.a.
