Abstract

Denmark has seen a steady increase in foreign residents. In the past, the country was relatively homogeneous in ethnicity, language, and culture. The arrival of so-called guest workers brought new diversity, and many chose to settle permanently and start families. These developments have influenced immigration and integration policies and sparked wide public debate. Against this backdrop, this project focuses on Bangladeshi immigrants and analyzes how they integrate into Danish society (understood broadly as becoming part of everyday social, cultural, and civic life).
