Dette speciale undersøger, hvordan energiefterspørgslen kan reduceres, og hvordan mere bæredygtige varmeanlæg kan integreres i individuelle danske bygninger, med udgangspunkt i et modelleret enfamiliehus. Formålet er at forbedre bygningens energiydelse ved at reducere energibehov, brændselsforbrug og CO2-udledninger. Arbejdet er opdelt i en teknisk-økonomisk del og en institutionel/politikanalyse. På efterspørgselssiden modelleres tre isoleringsscenarier, mens udbudssiden vurderer udskiftning af en eksisterende oliekedel (referencescenarie) med tre alternativer: luft-til-vand-varmepumpe, jordvarmepumpe (ground source heat pump) og fliskedel.
