Abstract
This master’s thesis by a group of Indoor Environmental and Energy Engineering students at Aalborg University set out to create an Indoor Environmental Quality (IEQ) assessment method and a prototype measuring unit in the form of a human-shaped manikin. Because the work was interdisciplinary, the team collaborated with Computer Science students to develop the data acquisition system for the measuring unit. The project produced an IEQ scoring system that combines quantitative measurements with qualitative evaluations of the indoor environment. Although grounded in an extensive literature review, the approach requires long-term testing in different types of spaces to validate its outcomes. A modular design was adopted, acknowledging that not all goals could be reached within the timeframe, so the method and prototype can be adapted and expanded in future work. The report documents the prototyping process and summarizes the progress achieved up to the submission date.
