COVID-19 has reshaped perceptions of tourism and well-being and severely impacted the sector through travel bans, lockdowns, and border closures. This thesis investigates how the pandemic has affected well-being and everyday life in Chamonix, a French alpine destination highly dependent on year-round tourism. Addressing a gap in knowledge on the social consequences for residents during crises, the study adopts a qualitative case study design with interviews of residents and local stakeholders, complemented by secondary data.
