Abstract

This master’s thesis investigates how to design an educational technological tool for children with autism aged 6–11. Using a design-based research framework, it combines a literature review with quantitative and qualitative data from surveys and interviews with parents and teachers to understand challenges in classroom and daily school life. A thematic analysis structures needs around social situations, learning activities, and basic daily skills, and reviews existing approaches such as gamified learning, VR/AR, self-expression, and behavioral training. In response, the project outlines and develops a prototype of a web-based platform intended to support children’s learning and independence while assisting parents and teachers in guiding and communicating norms. The excerpt does not report formal evaluation outcomes; it focuses on mapping needs and translating them into a prototype concept.
