Abstract
This master’s thesis examines how people with hearing impairment in Denmark can be better supported as active participants in their own care. It identifies key challenges faced when seeking hearing aids—including limited transparency, fragmented information, and difficult choices among treatment options. Guided by Actor-Network Theory and Communities of Practice, the study explores how clearer guidance and peer knowledge sharing can strengthen patient engagement. Methods include virtual observations of websites and Facebook communities, interviews with key actors, and concept prototyping; due to COVID-19 restrictions, activities were confined to online formats. The proposed outcome is Hør Her, a prototyped platform that centralizes information about hearing treatment in Denmark and enables user-to-user exchange of experiences.
