Abstract
Klimaforandringer er et globalt problem, som mærkes lokalt i hverdagen og i samfundet. Holstebro er en af de truede byer i Danmark. Specialet tager afsæt i Holstebro Kommunes overordnede strategi til at håndtere lokale klimarelaterede udfordringer. Som led i strategien skal der udvikles pilotprojekter på steder, hvor påvirkningen er størst. Specialet foreslår et Nature Laboratory som et sådant pilotprojekt og udvikler dets design. Nature Laboratory tænkes som et sted for læring, videndeling og offentlig oplysning, med ambitionen om at påvirke byen i større skala. Designet prioriterer både praktisk funktion og rige sanseoplevelser. Projektet arbejder med flere former for forandring: naturens foranderlighed, skiftende vandforhold, mangfoldige brugergrupper og forskellige måder at forstå natur på. Specialet undersøger, hvordan disse dynamikker kan omsættes til kvaliteter og potentialer for et Nature Lab i Holstebro og for byen.
Climate change is a global issue felt in local places and communities. Holstebro is one of the Danish cities at risk. This thesis builds on Holstebro Municipality’s overall strategy to address local climate-related challenges. As part of that strategy, pilot projects are to be developed at points of impact—areas most affected by climate change. The thesis proposes a Nature Laboratory as one such pilot project and develops its design. The Nature Laboratory is conceived as a place for learning, knowledge sharing, and public awareness, with the ambition to influence the city at a broader scale. The design prioritizes both practical function and rich sensory experiences. The project engages with several kinds of change: nature’s variability, shifting water conditions, diverse users, and different ways people understand nature. The thesis explores how these dynamics can be turned into qualities and potentials for a Nature Lab in Holstebro and for the city.
