Abstract

VR- og AR-briller bruges i stigende grad i arbejdslivet på tværs af brancher. I opgaver som lokalisering af dele og montage skal brugeren ofte finde ting, der ligger uden for det aktuelle synsfelt. Visuelle ledetråde kan hjælpe med at lede opmærksomheden mod sådanne mål. Vi antager, at der ikke findes én universelt bedste løsning; hvilken ledetråd der virker, afhænger af kontekst og opgave. Derfor gennemførte vi to studier, der undersøgte, hvilke visuelle ledetråde der fungerer bedst med hensyn til tid, mental belastning (kognitiv arbejdsbyrde) og brugerpræferencer i to forskellige kontekster med forskellige opgaver. Resultaterne peger på, at ledende ledetråde—der guider brugeren hen mod målet—har en fordel i forhold til dirigerende ledetråde—der blot angiver en retning—i både lokaliserings- og montageopgaver.

Virtual and augmented reality (VR/AR) glasses are entering professional workflows across many industries. In tasks like locating parts and assembly, users often need to find items that are outside their current field of view. Visual cues can guide attention to these out-of-view targets. We argue that there is no single best cue; effectiveness depends on the context and the task. To explore this, we conducted two studies that examined which visual cues work best for speed (time), mental effort (cognitive workload), and user preference in two different contexts with different tasks. Our results suggest that leading cues—which guide the user toward a target—have an advantage over directing cues—which simply indicate where to look—for both locating and assembly tasks.
