Abstract

This thesis examines growth strategies for the knowledge-based start-up CreateItREAL, which develops a dedicated software and electronics platform for FFF 3D printers. Against the backdrop of the post-RepRap market, where many desktop printers rely on open-source components with limitations, the company is profiled as differentiating through an industry-specific platform focused on speed and noise reduction, including a dedicated real-time processor. Rather than releasing its own printer, CreateItREAL commercializes its technology through partnerships and currently collaborates with Dynamo3D and Aye-aye labs in distinct segments. The core research question is how the firm can move from engineer-led, intuition-driven management to an explicit, actionable growth strategy during an anticipated scaling phase. Methodologically, the work conducts a case-based company analysis applying business and strategy tools to craft a five-step roadmap: revised value proposition, positioning and marketing, organizational changes, partner relations and growth, and funding. The outcome is a strategic proposal and practical playbook to support the transition from start-up to a scalable company.
