Abstract
We present a new architecture for a Grid Information Service designed to be scalable, fault-tolerant, and flexible. Two key features are: 1) nodes use the Optimized Link State Routing Protocol (OLSR), a routing protocol that lets them automatically find and maintain paths and thus self-organize the network structure; and 2) resource information is disseminated and refreshed based on how long it remains valid, so only current data circulates. The architecture was implemented, and the system works as intended. With OLSR, the network can automatically build and maintain itself, and the structure shows fault tolerance (it keeps working even if some parts fail) and flexibility (it adapts to changes). Performance experiments indicate that the system scales well as the network grows.
