Specialet undersøger, hvordan synet på adopterede børn og deres tarv kommer til udtryk i den danske adoptionslovgivning gennem det 20. århundrede. Med udgangspunkt i behandlingerne af adoptionslovene fra 1923, 1956 og 1972 analyseres, hvordan lovtekster, politiske drøftelser og samtidige sociale reformer afspejler forestillinger om familien, forælderroller og det “gode barn”. Undersøgelsen placerer adoption i en bredere historisk kontekst med fokus på tidlige regler om plejebørn, Børneloven af 1905 og Mellemmandsloven af 1914 samt velfærdsstatens fremvækst. Metodisk anlægges en tematisk, historisk analyse af lovgivningen og dens behandlinger for at belyse, om og hvordan barnets bedste prioriteres i lovgivningen. De første ti sider introducerer baggrund, problemformulering og analytiske rammer; egentlige resultater præsenteres senere i specialet og fremgår ikke af denne del.

This thesis examines how views on adopted children and their best interests are expressed in Danish adoption legislation throughout the twentieth century. Focusing on the legislative processes surrounding the adoption laws of 1923, 1956, and 1972, it analyzes how statutes, political debates, and contemporaneous social reforms reflect ideas about the family, parental roles, and the “good child.” The study situates adoption within a broader historical context, including early rules on foster children, the 1905 Child Act, the 1914 middleman law, and the rise of the welfare state. Methodologically, it employs a thematic historical analysis of legislation and its treatments to assess whether and how the child’s best interests are prioritized. The first ten pages present the background, research question, and analytical framework; substantive findings are introduced later in the thesis and are not included in this excerpt.
