Abstract

This master’s thesis focuses on product optimization by redesigning a scanner for Martin Professional. The project begins with an initial meeting to identify key assumptions, which are then checked using several analysis methods. In the research phase, these insights become a set of optimization options that are assessed, compared, and combined. This leads to a concept phase where the most promising ideas are merged into a final concept, followed by a detailing phase that turns it into a concrete design. The central technical focus is the use of optical fibers (thin strands that guide light) to increase the scanner’s flexibility and ease of use.
