Abstract

This master's thesis examines how different kinds of electrical faults affect the power system of an offshore wind farm. The study covers the offshore and onshore parts of the system and the high-voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission line. We propose a representative system layout and run several case studies to observe system behavior during fault conditions. The thesis explains what happens while a fault is present and identifies how the disturbance affects both the faulty section and the unaffected (healthy) parts of the offshore wind farm's electrical system.
