Abstract

Dette speciale foreslår et socialt og miljømæssigt bæredygtigt asylcenter på Godsbanearealerne i Aarhus. Projektet anvender Mary-Ann Knudstrups integrerede designproces, en metode der samler forskellige fagligheder og interessenter tidligt i forløbet, og supplerer den med evidensbaseret design, hvor beslutninger bygger på forskning og dokumenteret viden. Den centrale byplacering skal understøtte akkulturation, det vil sige daglig kontakt mellem asylansøgere og byens brugere, som kan hjælpe med tilvænning til livet i Danmark. Designet sigter også mod at styrke mental trivsel gennem hortikulturel terapi (aktiviteter med planter og havearbejde) samt mulighed for meningsfulde aktiviteter, der giver positiv afledning fra en svær situation. Resultatet er et samlet forslag til et nyt, bæredygtigt asylcenter, der er æstetisk forbundet med sine bymæssige omgivelser.

This thesis proposes a socially and environmentally sustainable asylum centre at the Godsbanearealerne site in Aarhus. The project uses Mary-Ann Knudstrup’s Integrated Design Process—an approach that brings different disciplines and stakeholders together early—and supplements it with Evidence-Based Design, where decisions are guided by research and documented experience. Placing the centre in the city aims to support acculturation, meaning everyday contact between asylum seekers and local users that helps people adapt to life in Denmark. The design also supports mental wellbeing through horticultural therapy (activities with plants and gardening) and opportunities to take part in meaningful activities that provide positive distraction from a difficult situation. The outcome is a coherent proposal for a new, sustainable asylum centre that fits aesthetically into its urban context.
