Abstract
This thesis brings the idea of entrepreneurial opportunity recognition—how people identify new business opportunities—into mainstream international business research. We systematically review 22 peer‑reviewed journal articles published between 2003 and 2013 across multiple disciplines. Based on this body of work, we identify three main groups of factors that shape the opportunity recognition process, supported by recent empirical findings. By clarifying these influences and uniting insights from different fields, the thesis contributes a shared, evidence‑based frame for understanding opportunity recognition in international business.
