Abstract
This thesis examines how Service Design can bridge Social Impact and Business Models to reveal new opportunity areas. Set in Greater Copenhagen’s start-up ecosystem, the study combines a broad literature review that surfaces a gap across service design, social impact and business models with an empirical design process guided by the Double Diamond. Methods included semi-structured interviews, actor mapping, customer and emotional journeys, use cases and structured ideation, while relevant stakeholders were engaged early through physical and online sessions and workshops; the iterative approach helped reduce bias. The project also explored whether a framework or toolkit could support entrepreneurs in identifying socially valuable opportunities. Findings indicate that Service Design can assist in spotting social impact opportunities and holds promise for strategic business development.
