Abstract

This thesis explores how embodied interaction in Augmented Reality (AR) shapes user experience, with a focus on museum applications. Building on prior work linking AR-induced presence to enriched museum visits and revisit intentions, it examines whether Mixed Reality headsets can deliver more immersive, hands-free interaction than mobile AR. The work reviews enabling technologies (e.g., SLAM and spatial computing) and museum-oriented design considerations (immersion, image quality, and storytelling), and presents the design and implementation of a Magic Leap 1 prototype.
