Abstract

This report is the result of the 4th semester Master in Science, forming the second half of the extended master thesis: “Experiencing space for sports”. The report presents the design proposal of future space for sports in the village of Godthåb, Denmark. The objective of this project stresses the development of architectural quality founded by a materialization of the aspects of ‘Context’, ‘Scale’ and ‘Experience’, constituting the developed design strategy in the first part of this Master thesis. The result presented in this report addresses the aspects of the developed design strategy in a way that provides space for local assembly and physical activities integrated with local community and landscape. The provided spaces seeks diversity in character and scale to achieve diversity in use and social interactions. With social interactions being the fulcrum of the design proposal, the cultural significance of future space for sports in Godthåb is emphasised suggesting the potential of space for sports to become the generator of both body movements, social interactions and cultural identity.
