Abstract
Projektet undersøger, hvordan metamaterialer—konstruerede strukturer med særlige elektromagnetiske egenskaber—kan forbedre elektrisk små antenner. Vi har studeret flere metamateriale-design og tilpasset en S-formet struktur for at skabe en kompakt Z-antenne til mobiltelefoner. Med simuleringer sammenlignede vi forskellige opbygninger for at maksimere ydeevnen. Den resulterende Z-antenne matcher telefonens radiosignal uden et ekstra afstemningskredsløb, øger gain (signalstyrke), reducerer reaktive nærfelter (energi lagret tæt ved antennen) og påvirkes mindre af brugerens krop. Resultaterne er indsendt i to artikler.
This project investigates how metamaterials—engineered structures with unusual electromagnetic properties—can improve electrically small antennas. We studied several metamaterial designs and adapted an S-shaped structure to create a compact Z antenna for mobile phones. Using simulations, we compared alternative layouts to maximize performance. The resulting Z antenna matches the phone’s radio without an extra matching circuit, increases gain (signal strength), reduces reactive near fields (energy stored close to the antenna), and is less affected by the user’s body. These findings have been submitted in two papers.
