Abstract

This thesis examines how to accelerate new employee adaptation in integrated architectural design companies where multiple disciplines work under one roof. It starts from the observation that aligning newcomers with a company’s identity and direction typically takes 3–24 months, indicating potential to shorten this period and reduce resource use. The study reviews foundational organizational socialization theory and applies a case study of Bryden Wood, an integrated design firm in London, UK, to identify key adaptation factors and time‑consuming aspects—what newcomers struggle with most and what takes longest to understand. Based on these insights, it proposes a comprehensive onboarding solution that enables employees to adapt at their own pace while reducing the burden on HR and other company resources. The thesis concludes with perspectives and a discussion of the study’s validity and reliability.
