Abstract

Elektroniske produkter står i stigende grad over for udfordringer med elektromagnetisk kompatibilitet (EMC)—at enheder ikke forstyrrer andet udstyr og overholder regulatoriske grænser. Hvis et færdigt produkt ikke består EMC-tests, skal det ofte redesignes, hvilket er dyrt. For at kunne forudsige overholdelse tidligere har vi udviklet software, der beregner fjernfeltsstråling—de emissioner, man observerer på afstand—fra en enhed ud fra nærfeltsmålinger tæt på kilden. Vi har valideret softwaren og sammenlignet de beregnede fjernfelter med direkte fjernfeltmålinger. Overensstemmelsen var ikke perfekt, så vi fremsætter hypoteser for at forklare forskellene og forbedre beregningsmetoden.

Electronic products increasingly face electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) challenges—ensuring devices do not interfere with other equipment and stay within regulatory limits. When a finished product fails EMC tests, it often requires redesign, which is costly. To help predict compliance earlier, we developed software that calculates far-field radiation—the emissions observed at a distance—from a device using near-field measurements taken close to the source. We validated the software and compared its predicted far-fields with direct far-field measurements. The agreement was imperfect, so we propose hypotheses to explain the differences and to improve the calculation method.
