Dette bachelorprojekt undersøger skolevægring blandt børn og unge i Danmark med særligt fokus på skolesocialrådgiverens rolle i det forebyggende arbejde. Baggrunden er stigende fravær og alvorlige konsekvenser for trivsel, familier og lokalsamfund, hvilket understreger behovet for tidlig og helhedsorienteret indsats. Med en hermeneutisk tilgang anvendes kvalitative metoder: et fokusgruppeinterview med tre skolesocialrådgivere og individuelle semistrukturerede interviews med to lærere. Analysen peger på, at skolesocialrådgivere fungerer som brobyggere mellem skole, familie og myndigheder, hvilket muliggør tidlig opsporing og sammenhængende indsatser. Deres tilgængelighed samt rådgivning af lærere og forældre er central for at identificere og håndtere udfordringer tidligt, og en kommunikativ og anerkendende tilgang styrker trygge relationer, trivsel og udvikling hos børn og unge. Projektet identificerer barrierer for det forebyggende arbejde, herunder manglende lovgivning, begrænsede ressourcer og udfordringer i tværfagligt samarbejde. Samtidig fremhæves muligheder som styrket opsporing af mistrivsel og fællesskabsorienterede indsatser, der øger inklusion og støtte. Konklusionen understreger skolesocialrådgiverens kritiske rolle og anbefaler at adressere barriererne og udnytte de eksisterende muligheder for at fremme trivsel og mindske skolevægring gennem en mere effektiv og helhedsorienteret tilgang.

This bachelor’s project examines school refusal among children and adolescents in Denmark, with a particular focus on the preventive role of school social workers. The study is motivated by rising absence rates and the serious consequences for wellbeing, families, and communities, underscoring the need for early and holistic action. Using a hermeneutic approach and qualitative methods, the project includes a focus group interview with three school social workers and individual semi-structured interviews with two teachers. The analysis indicates that school social workers act as bridges between schools, families, and authorities, enabling early detection and coordinated support. Their accessibility and guidance to teachers and parents are crucial for identifying and addressing issues at an early stage, and a communicative, recognition-based approach fosters secure relationships as well as the wellbeing and development of children and adolescents. The project identifies key barriers to preventive work, including a lack of legislation, limited resources, and challenges in interdisciplinary collaboration. At the same time, it highlights opportunities such as improved detection of poor wellbeing and community-oriented initiatives that strengthen inclusion and support. The conclusion emphasizes the critical role of school social workers and recommends addressing these barriers and leveraging existing opportunities to enhance wellbeing and reduce school refusal through a more effective and holistic approach.
