Specialet undersøger, hvordan socialarbejdere i kommunale familieafdelinger kan skabe god interaktion med forældre, samtidig med at de balancerer deres dobbeltrolle som myndighed og hjælper i sager med bekymring for et barn. Med en hermeneutisk tilgang og en teoretisk analyse af anerkendelse, interaktionisme og mentalisering, suppleret af sekundær empiri med udsagn fra socialarbejdere og forældre samt sparring med en medforsker (en mor med erfaring fra familieafdelingen), belyses forældres oplevelse af samarbejdet og de kompetencer, der kan styrke relationen. Analysen viser, at ingen enkelt teori kan sikre den bedste interaktion, men at udvalgte elementer fra alle tre teoriretninger hjælper socialarbejdere med at skabe relation, forstå forældres perspektiver og håndtere samspil under myndighedsudøvelse. Med afsæt i Shulmans model for socialt arbejde udvikles et integreret rammeværk, der kombinerer teorierne som praktisk støtte i mødet mellem forældre og socialarbejdere, med det overordnede mål at fremme et konstruktivt samarbejde om barnets behov.

This thesis explores how social workers in municipal family departments can foster good interaction with parents while balancing their dual role as both authority and helper in cases of concern about a child. Using a hermeneutic approach and a theoretical analysis of recognition, interactionism and mentalization, supplemented by secondary empirical statements from social workers and parents and input from a co-researcher (a mother with experience in a family department), it examines how parents perceive collaboration and which practitioner competencies support it. The analysis finds that no single theory can ensure the best interaction; instead, selected elements from all three help social workers build relationships, understand parents’ perspectives and manage the interaction while exercising authority. Based on Shulman’s model for social work, the thesis develops an integrated framework that combines these theories as practical guidance for encounters between parents and social workers, with the overarching aim of strengthening collaborative efforts around the child’s needs.
