Abstract
Det europæiske Vandrammedirektiv (WFD) fastlægger en fælles juridisk ramme for at beskytte vand i hele Europa og sikre langsigtet bæredygtig brug. Det pålægger medlemslandene at rapportere mange typer vanddata—om indlands overfladevand, overgangsvande, kystvande og grundvand—til Det Europæiske Miljøagentur (EEA). At leve op til disse rapporteringskrav har skabt praktiske udfordringer for nationale myndigheder. Dette speciale imødekommer udfordringerne ved at designe en databasemodel, der organiserer grundvandsdata i overensstemmelse med de europæiske krav. Det præsenterer både en konceptuel og en logisk datamodel, udviklet ud fra anerkendte principper for datamodellering og tilpasset GEUS' kontekst. The European Water Framework Directive (WFD) sets a common legal framework to protect water across Europe and ensure long-term sustainable use. It requires Member States to report many kinds of water data—covering inland surface waters, transitional waters, coastal waters, and groundwater—to the European Environment Agency (EEA). Meeting these reporting obligations has created practical data-management challenges for national authorities. This thesis responds by designing a database model to organize groundwater data in line with the European legal requirements. It presents both a conceptual and a logical data model, developed from established data modeling principles and aligned with GEUS's context. The thesis also offers a data standardization guide based on EEA resources, along with recommendations and best practices for more efficient data management. Together, these resources are intended to help GEUS handle groundwater data in compliance with European legislation and, more broadly, to support efforts to protect water in Europe.
