Abstract
This thesis examines which criteria designers can use to create scenes in architectural interior design, with a special focus on how light shapes atmosphere and experience. Theatre lighting serves as a guiding reference: What lessons from stage practice—such as directing attention, modeling space, and setting mood—can inform the illumination of interior environments? By relating theatrical approaches to lighting to the needs of interior design, the work aims to outline practical principles for using light to support function, aesthetics, and human experience in everyday spaces.
