Abstract
This thesis examines how to improve the process for introducing Standard Work at Grundfos Manufacturing Serbia. Standard Work is a Lean Production method that defines the best known way to perform a task consistently. Lean Production aims to reduce waste and improve workflow, and Knowledge Management focuses on creating, sharing, and using know-how. The thesis begins with a review of the literature on these three topics and identifies five key elements for successful Standard Work implementation. Next, a case study of Standard Work at Grundfos Management, Grundfos Manufacturing Denmark, and Grundfos Manufacturing Hungary adds four practical points to each element. The case study is based on five interviews with Lean Agents (staff who lead lean initiatives) from these organizations. Using this combined framework, the thesis analyzes the current implementation process in Serbia. Data were gathered through participatory observation during a six-month internship, meaning the researcher worked on site and observed the process directly. Finally, the thesis proposes five improvements—ranging from high-level strategic decisions to everyday routines—to make the implementation process more effective and consistent.
