Abstract

This thesis examines how visitors to Frederikshavn can co-create value with the destination through digital solutions, and how a visitor app could be designed to enhance their experiences. Motivated by evidence that Denmark underperforms on tourist satisfaction compared with other Northern European countries and by the growing centrality of mobile technologies in travel, the study explores what potential users consider essential in an app and what would motivate them to use it. Adopting a constructivist stance, it draws on qualitative interviews with visitors and an email correspondence with a VisitDenmark expert, analyzed through hermeneutic meaning interpretation. The theoretical framework links co-creation, digitally enhanced tourism, tourist motivation, and expectations and satisfaction.
