Abstract
This project studies how to identify a model of a thermal closed‑loop system (a temperature‑controlled system with feedback). The plant (the physical system) is analyzed from first principles, and the controller’s behavior is examined. This leads to a nominal model for both plant and controller, which is then used for model identification. The thesis explains the Hansen Scheme, a method for identifying a plant while the system operates in closed loop. The scheme requires coprime factorizations of the system, which are not readily available for PI (proportional–integral) controllers with reference feedforward (a way to act on the reference in advance). The work derives such factorizations analytically for this controller type and presents an identification technique that uses them. The technique is applied to data from the project Styr din varmepumpe to perform closed‑loop identification.
