Abstract

Erhvervslivet er i de senere år blevet kritiseret for sin rolle i sociale, miljømæssige og økonomiske problemer. Mange efterlyser et paradigmeskifte – en grundlæggende ændring i, hvordan virksomheder arbejder – for at forbedre miljø- og sociale resultater. Alligevel findes der kun få klare analyser af, hvordan et sådant skifte kan se ud. Denne afhandling foreslår og udvikler et muligt nyt paradigme med navnet Valuedecentrism. Med en konstruktivistisk tilgang til grounded theory – en kvalitativ metode, der bygger teori op fra data og ser viden som samskabt – beskriver studiet de begreber, der kendetegner dette paradigme. Afhandlingen udvikler også et praktisk værktøj, der tager udgangspunkt i to velkendte ideer: forretningsmodellen (hvordan en virksomhed skaber og indfanger værdi) og økoinnovation (innovationer, der mindsker miljøpåvirkning). Disse begreber har både formet det nye paradigme og giver en måde, som virksomheder og forskere kan anvende det på. Målet er at give virksomheder en motiverende, handleorienteret vej til at tackle miljøudfordringer og at hjælpe miljøforskere med at styrke samarbejdet med erhvervslivet.

In recent years, business has been widely criticized for its role in social, environmental, and economic problems. Many call for a paradigm shift—a fundamental change in how companies operate—to improve environmental and social outcomes. Yet there is little clear analysis of what such a shift might look like. This thesis proposes and develops a potential new paradigm called Valuedecentrism. Using a constructivist grounded theory approach—a qualitative method that builds theory from data and views knowledge as co-created—the study outlines the concepts that define this paradigm. It also designs a practical tool based on two familiar ideas: the business model (how a firm creates and captures value) and eco-innovation (innovations that reduce environmental impact). These concepts helped shape the paradigm and offer a way for companies and researchers to apply it. The goal is twofold: to provide businesses with a motivating, actionable path to address environmental challenges, and to support environmental researchers in building stronger collaboration with the business community.
